This might be the best comedy action comic book movie of the year but only if you count all categories together. This Deadpool movie is absolutely amazing.
So now the bar has been set for comic book movies in 2016, sadly though it is also set the bar for comedies in 2016. Deadpool is thoroughly enjoyable the flow of the movie does skip a beat to beat but does it in a seamless way. What I mean by that is the plot is broken apart, we jump from 1 year to 2 years ago to right now to back to 1 year ago and then 2 years ago. It works in a way that is hard to pull off and does it wonderfully.
This is a hard R movie, what that means is this is not just fuck you, this is not just nudity this is the whole shebang. Do not take your child to see Deadpool if you do you are a bad parent!! After saying that this movie has all the violence politically incorrect humor and sexuality that a adult comic book movie should. It is gritty and slightly gory it is also amazingly entertaining it is absolutely movie to see more than once.
The other thing that Deadpool does better than most comic book movies is give us a love story that is as believable as it is ridiculous. You buy in to Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and Vanessa (Morena Beccarin) being completely in love and having an amazing time doing it. Except maybe on March 8th International Woman’s Day.
A great thing about this movie was the addition of the X-men to Deadpool. Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) give the night and day comparison of morals in the Deadpool movie. Whereas Deadpool moral compass is questionable at best Colossus has a true north moral compass. A little inside joke for those are you’ve already seen the movie ” but why?”. It was also a great way to introduce Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) X-men character that is not well known to the general public. The age of her character also allows for future interactions in actual X-men movies. Having Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead has done one thing that was a question and it is shown that Deadpool will be apart of the X-men universe.
The bad parts of this movie are few and far between yes there are still bad parts of this movie. They do an awesome job with showing distance between time except in a couple of instances that do throw off the flow of the movie. Deadpool also the lack certain emotional character development in certain ways and yes the two are intertwined. After that everything you complain about is really a personal observation that will probably go unnoticed by most. Even what I complained about will be overlooked by most of the audience because it is simply nitpicking Deadpool.
